Stopped by Walgreens in the morning to get salad and snacks for the movies today. Met up with Vivian, Vivian’s little cousin, and Gary to bus there.
“Marvel: The Avengers” was really good! I loved the action! Iron Man/Stark was my favorite character even though he’s old. ): But he looked great with the character Gwyneth Paltrow played. Now I want to watch his movie. Some people were making weird noises in the theater room while we were watching the movie. It was so strange.
We decided to watch “Snow White and the Huntsman” instead of “Dark Shadows”. Since we had a bit of time before it started, we ate lunch inside the theater room. Omg, stupid Walgreens salad didn’t come with a fork and the concession stand didn’t have utensils, so Vivian suggested I use two plastic straws as chopsticks instead. So ghetto. T_T I got a Santa Fe chicken salad so it was slightly spicy. It was okay but I still prefer Trader Joe’s more.
“Snow White and the Huntsman” was okay. LOL, I honestly didn’t expect much from Kristen Stewart. Sigh, the same expressions… Does she ever look actually happy? And there were so many wtf moments while magical random things appear coughhorsecough. LOOOL, during the movie, we felt some strange vibrations, so I jokingly told Gary that maybe this movie is 3D. Man, dat boi be spazzing and laughing like he’s cray cray. I think that was much more entertaining than the movie, LOL. Oh, and Chris Hemsworth (aka Thor from Avengers) was the Huntsman in the movie. What a coincidence… And he’s Liam Hemsworth’s older brother.
Afterwards, I bussed with them to DT and went home.

This morning, I was supposed to meet up with Vivian, Viola, and Jackie for lunch at Ike’s Place in Castro but darn the buses. - - Couldn’t make it so I just decided to try Toasties, because I’ve always passed by it whenever I’m at the corner of West Portal but I never had the opportunity to try it out. Plus, it claimed to have “San Francisco’s Best Crab Melt”, which I have never tried before. The crab melt sandwich was great but not super amazing.

A bit pricey too…like $9.25 but I added avocado for a extra $1. It had “Dungeness crab meet, artichoke hearts, shallots, onion, Parmesan cheese & spices topped with Monterey Jack Cheese”. I couldn’t taste the crab meat because it was overwhelmed with cheese. Anyways, despite my small disappointment, I actually ended up tipping $1 even though it wasn’t really a restaurant. The service there was amazing and I’m such a sucker for good customer service. T_T And they had a free drink with a purchase of sandwich deal. I might back and try other sandwiches (people recommend the ham/turkey & avocado on Yelp) because Toasties also gave me a stamp card, LOL.
Afterwards, I stopped by West Portal Library and borrowed more DVDs and magazines. Bussed to SFSU but I was early so I also stopped by Merced Library for some more DVDs and magazines. Went to practice for Saturday’s STARTALK celebration ceremony with Naeem, my MC partner. I spent a couple hours editing our script. My Chinese typing is still pretty good, yay! Rehearsed a couple times then went home. Watched “Jack & Jill”, “The Help” (I loved it!), and “Four Christmases”.
I think I caught a cold or something recently because I’ve been having a mix of stuffy/runny nose. ):
Ran to SFSU around 2PM for the grad meeting. It went on much longer than I expected. ): While the adults were having their own meeting, Jonathan, Marvin, Naeem, Dylan, Lydia, and I were in the other room having working on our own speeches. Naeem and I are gonna be the MC’s for the ceremony so we had to prepare a opening skit. We came up with something to present to the staff but then they suggested that we integrate something Chinese speaking/translating. So we changed it to more of an interview where we banter. Oh, in the middle of the meeting, my nose was bleeding profusely. ): I was stuck in the bathroom for a long time. Later, they ran through some of the agenda with us. LOL, honestly, most of the time, I was just walking around and what not because I finished writing the skit already. Went home and typed everything up/translate/added pinyin and sent people emails. Harhar, my Chinese is still pretty proficient. ^^ Now I just need to practice saying the agenda list/names.
Went with siblings to their dentist appointments then met up with grandpa to eat lunch at Broadway Cafe. I got Beef Spaghetti with Portuguese Sauce.
Bought some toys for Toffee at the pet store next door. CAMP meeting started at 6PM so I had tons of time to spend at DT. LOL, haven’t been in the mood to shop lately so I walked through a bunch of stores but bought nothing. While I was walking around Macy’s, someone called me about the CAMP flyer at a very inconvenient time. Let’s just say, I was surrounded by tons of flushing noises. Later, I ended up going to Sephora and played with makeup for an hour.
Walked to CNSC for the meeting and pleased to see that people actually saw my post on FB even though it was a bit late but yeah! :D There were about 30-40 people there; most of them through Carlos’ connections though. LOL, I forgot to mention to Steph and Tina that the media was coming so they freaked but it was okay because they weren’t filming, just tons of photographing, haha! Everyone got these goody bags filled with gifts from different companies (ie. toothbrush from Safeway, HSBC keychain, etc).
The Corporate Asian American Employee Network (CAEEN) members did a wonderful presentation about their careers! The panel consisted of the HSBC Retail Banking & Wealth Management VP/Sr. Branch Manager, the AT&T Specialist Applications Developer, the Safeway Business Analyst Systems and Processes, the Kaiser RN/Diabetes Care Manager, and the Orchard Supply Hardware Corporate Senior Graphic Designer. I liked how they all talked about how they progressed from small positions to such high positions in their companies because of networking/communications and how they all have the goal of being a manager/director in the future. And the lady from AT&T is only 24! She gave some great advice about college too.
After Q&A’s, we went outside to eat and mingle. During the Q&A, Steph asked the panel the question of the difference between networking at school and networking outside of school. I think the mingling after the presentation totally answers the question. People are much less awkward and much more enthusiastic when socializing outside of school. There were so many random people just introducing each other, exchanging business cards, and joining into conversations.
But anyways, LOOOL something hilarious happened. The HSBC SVP (VP’s boss) came to see the presentation and OMG, I couldn’t help but notice he was very good looking/well-dressed the moment he stepped in. Well, I wasn’t the only one. So while Steph and Sam were talking about how Priscilla was already mingling with the SVP, I coincidentally told Steph, “OMG, that guy is really good looking!” So after Priscilla was done talking to him, harhar, Steph and I went to talk to him. I asked so many questions even though most of the time I was just staring into his eyes. It’s so funny because all 3 of us forgot his name after talking to him. But Steph, my amazing wingwoman, eventually got his name for us. :D And she also discreetly helped us suggest to Carlos to take a group picture of everyone. And last but not least, she helped position me right behind the SVP during the picture, hehe. LOL, he might have been a bit weirded out though since Priscilla and I were so giddy the whole time. But he seems like a pretty chill/laid-back guy too! And hopefully he’s in his 30’s… I ended up eating only one chicken wing the whole time because I wanted to quickly “mingle” with him. :) I’ll post the picture when someone uploads it. Just went home afterwards.
